Liverpool found everything it needed in one spot—the Riviera Nayarit—Mexico’s trendiest destination. In January, the department store shot part of its “Fashion Fest Liverpool 2021” campaign for the spring-summer season in our location.

The coastal towns of Sayulita and San Francisco turned into natural film sets. In addition to the commercial advertising, they also filmed a video in which nine prominent Mexican women served as ambassadors, including Paulina Abascal, pastry chef; Miranda Santizo, influencer; Camila Velázquez, mother-to-be; and Dani Hoyos, painter. Also participating in this special are Greta Elizondo, dancer; Nukhet Iskender, yoga instructor; Jocelyn Corona, model; Nailea Vidrio, soccer player; and Paola Longoria, racquetball champion.

The video shows some of the iconic hideaways of these two Riviera Nayarit micro-destinations, showcasing the ambassadors performing activities related to their trade or profession and answering the question: “What do we women want?” It concludes with the statement: “We want it all, and everything we want is in one spot.”

Film tourism sector

According to Marc Murphy, managing director of the Riviera Nayarit Visitors and Convention Bureau (CVB), in addition to the beaches—ideal for surfing and Stand-Up Paddle—, other attractions such as gastronomy and a relaxed atmosphere make these two coastal towns of the Riviera Nayarit, a favorite for tourists, or as in this case, major film productions.

Liverpool’s advertising campaign adds to the more than 150 movies, television programs, music videos, or reality shows filmed in recent years in Mexico’s Pacific Treasure. This destination has positioned itself in the national and international film tourism sector thanks to the great diversity of landscapes and attractive locations for filming.

In 2020, teams filmed eight television programs (series, documentaries, etc.), three short films, two commercials, and one music video here, in addition to three photoshoots for catalogs. This year, productions have already resumed their activities, such as Redrum Films, which is filming for a top streaming platform.

The CVB, the Banderas Bay Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB), and the Government of the State of Nayarit are working together to offer services for producers and directors interested in locations for their productions.

The Riviera Nayarit is a safe destination. Hotels, restaurants, and tourist establishments follow all the health protocols established by the Federal Government’s Ministry of Health and operate at the allowed capacities. Access to the beaches is limited. Be a responsible tourist: wear your mask and keep your distance.
