The CVB participated in a series of events directed at the media, travel agents, wedding planners, and wholesale tour operators specializing in the LGBT+ niche.

The Riviera Nayarit joined the celebration and struggle for inclusion as part of International LGBT+ Pride Day with a series of promotional activities during which the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) presented its tourism offerings for this segment.

The events, directed at the press, media, travel agents, wedding planners, and wholesalers specializing in the LGBT+ niche, were held in Mexico City on June 23-25.

One of the stellar events in which the CVB participated was the official launch of the #MiAmorPorMéxico (#MyLoveForMexico) campaign, organized by the National Union of LGBT+ Tourism Entrepreneurs (UNET). The CVB made a Destination presentation together with other destinations such as the State of Mexico, Oaxaca (with representatives of the Muxhe community), and Michoacán. Nearly 40 participants attended in person, with an additional 150 media via live streaming.

Premium Destination

The campaign’s launch included the presentation of BE magazine, with its Pride edition, with the Riviera Nayarit featured as “The Premium LGBT+ Mexican Destination: Riviera Nayarit.” The magazine has a print run of 5,000 premium issues plus digital copies.

This event included a unique highlight with the first LGBT+ Tourist-Historical-Cultural Tour of Mexico, co-hosted by the Riviera Nayarit. The guests were on board three panoramic tour buses to visit Mexico City’s landmarks with a one hundred percent LGBT+ perspective, such as the Zona Rosa, the Frida Kahlo museum, theaters, historic buildings, or those with attached to stories such as the “dance of the 41,” or the first LGBT+ march, the cultural contribution of writers such as Monsiváis, Novo, and artists such as Kahlo, etc. Brands involved in this activity included Belmond, St. Regis, Hyatt, Marriott, and Casa Sauza.

Lastly, as the Riviera Nayarit is an inclusive destination that offers a range of options for this segment, it organized an event for more than 40 media, travel agents, and wedding planners specializing in the LGBT+ segment: a Wixárika union ceremony. In this culture’s cosmovision, egalitarian unions are possible since they unite souls, not bodies.

Also of note was the coverage by prestigious national media outlets such as The Travel Citizen, LADEVI, Reforma, Pasillo Turístico, El Heraldo de México, and El Financiero. Their writers gained first-hand knowledge about the new and current tourism offerings the Riviera Nayarit has for the LGBT+ segment.

The Riviera Nayarit is a safe destination. Our hotels, restaurants, and tourist establishments follow all the health protocols established by the Federal Government’s Ministry of Health and operate at the allowed capacities. Access to the beaches is limited. Be a responsible tourist: wear your mask and keep your distance.

We’re ready!

The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) work tirelessly to promote the region with the support of the Government of the State of Nayarit through its Tourism Promotion Trust (Fiprotur).
