In Mexico, there are special towns that are known as “Pueblos Magicos” and they all have to follow certain criteria, such as being a place with some type of touristic attraction, a strong traditional background, significant buildings, and local cuisine.

In Riviera Nayarit, there are a few special “pueblos magicos” that are worth your time to visit. Whether you are visiting the Riviera Nayarit area to check out the timeshare industry in Mexico or you have already invested in timeshare in Vallarta-Nayarit, you must take the time to see these two magical towns:

  • Sayulita—Even if Sayulita wasn’t on the list of “pueblos magicos” in Mexico, it would be on our list of magical towns. It’s the type of town where beach, sand, beauty, and fun come together to create a truly spectacular experience. This small surfer’s paradise is full of friendly people, colorful places, vestiges of the Huichol culture, and of course, plenty of places for practicing yoga. It’s only 30 minutes away from Punta de Mita and an hour or so from Puerto Vallarta.
  • Jala—While it isn’t as well-known as Sayulita, Jala is a nice little jewel tucked away in the Riviera Nayarit. If you love corn, this will definitely be a great place to visit to try corn based foods and a local favorite: pozole! The cobbled stones, the history and tradition of the local culture, and the festivals make this a fun experience for anyone looking to get off the beaten path of other more touristic destinations. It is also near a very impressive volcano known as Ceboruco which will be something interestingly unique to do in the area. While it is a bit further away from Puerto Vallarta than Sayulita, it’s a good trip to do at some point during your vacations at your timeshare in Puerto Vallarta.

Mexico is an amazing country with a lot of history and these pueblo magicos are full of captivating things to see and learn about the people and culture. While the beaches have always been the number one attraction for tourists, many people are starting to get interested in visiting the Pueblos Magicos to be found in Mexico. Have you been to a magic town in Mexico? Which one is your favorite?
