The Historic Center of Puerto Vallarta: A Cultural Heritage of Jalisco

The state of Jalisco recently named the historical center of Puerto Vallarta as a Federal Cultural Heritage, in order to ensure the conservation of its unique urban image. This appointment was made a few weeks ago as a result of being designated “The Most Mexican Port” at our 100th anniversary of becoming a municipality.

In the well-known area known as the Romantic Zone, you will find characteristic features of the traditional villages of Mexico: cobbled streets, colonial architecture and an atmosphere of familiarity with which residents receive visitors.

With this designation, the Government of the State of Jalisco seeks to protect the identity features of the community, while at the same time encouraging the expression of freedom and creativity. A flourishing bohemian atmosphere can be found at every corner from eclectic small galleries to stunning street art.

Another art form here in Vallarta are Los Pata de Perro, an itinerant Clown company whose show - if you’re lucky – you’ll be able to witness during your next visit to your Puerto Vallarta timeshare. In addition to these types of expressions, head out for a stroll along cobbled streets or along a long seaside boardwalk. You’ll be provided with extraordinary opportunities to contemplate - and perhaps photograph - small scenes of the Vallartense daily life where tradition and modernity offer a destination with a wide spectrum of options. Something for every visitor.

While visiting the now Federal Cultural Heritage area of Puerto Vallarta, you can visit the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe to admire its characteristic bell tower and enjoy the devotion with which one of the most deeply-rooted traditions in Mexico is lived. Make sure to schedule your visit near December 12th so that you can also enjoy these celebrations to the fullest. Plus, the winter is the season when you can enjoy one of the best climates in the region, as the temperature is mild and the rain probabilities are next to none.

Come experience this cultural heritage of Puerto Vallarta at your timeshare, and continue to return again and again with your vacation membership.
