Puerto Vallarta’s cruise ship season has kicked off with the arrival of the Island Princess on October 1st. Marking the beginning of what is estimated to be one of the strongest cruise ship tourism seasons for the economy as of yet, Puerto Vallarta’s cruise ship port is expecting 150 cruise ship visits between October and May.

Multiple cruise lines have ships that dock in Puerto Vallarta during their voyages of the Pacific, including Carnival Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line and even Disney Cruises. In February 2019, a very exciting new ship will be added to the list of ships that dock in Puerto Vallarta’s maritime terminal: the Magellan.

The Magellan, suited to Mexican tastes and aspirations, will be sailing out of Acapulco on a voyage along the Mexican Pacific, visiting ports like Los Cabos, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo. The eight day and seven night Mexican cruise is a new concept by Cruises Maritimos Vacacionales (CMV), with its first scheduled sailing to depart on February 3rd, 2018 and an expected arrival in Puerto Vallarta on February 7th.

It is estimated that a revenue of $782 million pesos, only considering on-land tourist purchases, will be generated during this cruise ship season alone; making cruise ship visits one of the most important tourism industries in the city. And now with the introduction of the new Mexican cruiser that will be taking 1,400 tourists along the Mexican Pacific coast, Puerto Vallarta will be welcoming more visitors by sea than ever before.
