Picture this: 750 dancers from 6 countries in one city. Needless to say, Puerto Vallarta’s 13th annual International Folkloric Dance Festival is not to be missed if you’re planning to be in Puerto Vallarta during this time. From April 28th to May 5th, experience a dance festival like no other.
The event’s organizer, Juan Antonio Salcedo, speaks about the festivals goal as being one of peace and brotherhood. The goal is to create bonds between all the dancers and countries involved. Vallarta Azteca’s Folkloric Dance festival gives Puerto Vallarta visitors and residents alike the opportunity to experience the spirit of Folkloric dance through color, music and tradition.
During the festival, each dance troupe performs a 45-minute repertoire emblematic of the state they represent. Despite how many dance troupes auditioned, only thirteen were selected. From Mexico, groups from Aguascalientes, Chiapas, Durango, Jalisco, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Sonora and Zacatecas were chosen. The international dance companies chosen will be coming from Italy, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador and Chile.

The parade ends at a field in front of the Municipal Sports Stadium for an inauguration ceremony. This location, IPEJAL, will be the festival’s main performance location with free events every night at 7:00pm.
