Come and discover our cornucopia of places, cultures, traditions, nature, gastronomy, and magical towns in Nayarit!

Following the lead of the popular Culture Trip site, which recently named the Riviera Nayarit as “one of the best places to visit if you are looking for a relaxing break,” we, too, would like to offer a series of recommendations to help you enjoy your winter vacation.

You shouldn’t miss the winter season in Riviera Nayarit because, unlike other beach destinations, our so-called “cold” weather is relative. That is to say, while locals are piling on sweaters at 18°C (64°F), our visitors—mainly North Americans and Europeans—find the temperature is perfect.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service, winter begins in the northern hemisphere on December 21, 2021, with the Solstice and lasts 88 days. This gives you plenty of time to make plans to visit Mexico’s Pacific Treasure. You’ll find it’s the ideal place to enjoy an infinite number of water activities, including sailing, surfing, kite surfing, and fishing, plus outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, and golf.

23 coastal towns

There’s also lots to do for those who prefer more leisurely activities, such as bird watching—in addition to endemic species, a significant number of migratory birds arrive in San Blas and San Pancho every year. Meanwhile, experienced swimmers and divers can get up close and personal with the rich array of marine life—think whales, whale sharks, and colorful fish—and anyone can participate in a turtle hatchling release at one of the campsites located along the coast.

The Riviera Nayarit is home to multiple destinations (23 coastal towns), from the cosmopolitan Nuevo Vallarta and Punta de Mita, a hub for luxury investments, to more rustic towns like Lo de Marcos and San Blas. Each village has its own identity, activities, and events. We invite you to explore them one at a time!

There’s something for every budget in the Riviera Nayarit, from $50-a-night rooms to luxury villas facing the Pacific for $20,000. And, in addition to their usual high standards, our hotels welcome guests with the strictest safety and hygiene protocols required to deal with the COVID-19 and its variants.

For these and many other reasons, visiting the Riviera Nayarit will always be an excellent option: this is definitely the right place to detox from every last bit of pandemic-generated stress.

The Riviera Nayarit awaits you!

The Riviera Nayarit is a safe destination. Our hotels, restaurants, and tourist establishments follow all the health protocols established by the Federal Government’s Ministry of Health and operate at the allowed capacities. Access to the beaches is limited. Be a responsible tourist: wear your mask and keep your distance.

We’re ready!

The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) reaffirm their commitment to the strategic promotion of the destination. They pursue areas of opportunity and consolidate new markets to increase the number of incoming tourists to the destination for the benefit of all Nayarit residents with the support of the Government of the State of Nayarit.
