With the end of the 2023 summer vacation season, vacation ownership is consolidated as one of the most relevant industries for national tourism. According to the Mexican Association of Tourism Developers (AMDETUR) during June and July, the industry achieved an average increase of up to 15% compared to 2022 in the number of memberships sold, which reflects the growing popularity of this concept among tourists.

For these same reasons, the summer vacation season was a success for the vacation ownership industry, where the industry managed to exceed all its expectations for membership sales, new memberships and occupancy percentages.

The growth in sales is also reflected in owners who increased their membership levels, a statistic that reveals the high satisfaction rates of this format. In some clubs, the owners who bought this summer reached up to 30% of their respective total sales.

“Vacation ownership has grown significantly over the last 20 years, becoming an important and resilient sector within the national tourism industry. “There will always be a vacation property that fits the needs and preferences of clients.” said Rosario Rodríguez, president of AMDETUR.

The positive results during the summer were thanks to the joint effort of the industry to face the challenges that the global market faces today, where with all the destinations in the world open, travelers are beginning to return to the travel habits of three years ago. .

With this phenomenon in mind, and with the aim of taking advantage of the fact that summer vacations are one of the preferred times of Mexicans, developers deployed strategies to attract a greater amount of national tourism with a differentiated and economically attractive offer.

AMDETUR points out that Mexico is currently the second country in global sales of Timeshare or Vacation Ownership memberships, only after the United States, and today the occupancy percentage in the main tourist developments with Vacation Ownership was around 90%, 10 points above hotels without a club.

The Association has a national presence and brings together 90% of the developers and investors in the Timeshare and Vacation Ownership sector in Mexico.
