The Pros & Cons of Owning a Timeshare

As any other service, timeshare has pros and cons:

Pros:

• Sharing the use and maintenance expenses of a property is cheaper than buying a vacation house for your own.
• Vacationing the next years for a fixed price in one or many parts of the world.
• In the long run your expenses are reduced.
• You can recover your investment (even get some profit) when renting the weeks you aren’t using.
• You are helping national economy when generating taxes, employment and strengthen other branches of the touristic industry.
• The average days that you vacation increases.
• The big difference in cost between high season and low season is reduced.

Cons:

• There are people who use fraudulent advertising.
• 
Many developers use aggressive techniques of sales
• There’s a general lack of information about what are and what these services aren’t.
• The exchange or sale of your weeks can become a difficult task if the destination or date isn’t attractive.
• You have to take in count other expenses such as transportation, food or other attractions.
• The quality of accommodations and service isn’t always confirmable or uniform in all destinations.
• It’s not an investment per se.
