Originally from Mexico City, Alejandro Lemus Mateos is the father of two children and studied Graphic Design in the Iberoamericana University. Actually he is Adeprotur’s President and he shares his opinion about complains that timeshare has risen in Puerto Vallarta:

“In the touristic industry it’s a must the good service and human factor, that’s why we are constantly training our personnel so that we minimize errors. As an association we have a tight self-regulation which allows us to detect irregularities in order to give a solution from our companies. This allows us to know what the problem is and how to solve it.”

“Timeshare generates a base of repetitive tourists that we are able to identify already: From 12,000 units that already exist, in 5 years we will reach 17,000 with a tourist number that will surpass two million in ten years. This growth will be followed by the commercialization of our products through the human resource training and certification of our products.”

What benefits can timeshare bring to a destination like Puerto Vallarta?

“When you sell a membership you are generating a captive customer for 25 years, that is the core of the advantages of timeshare because from there starts a whole process that reflects the customer satisfaction including the restaurant industry, tours, art galleries, and the hospitality of the vallartenses, between many things that close this important circle of the customers preference.”

Actually, Banderas Bay as a destination has 12,000 unities of timeshare for sale and that makes, at least, 42,000 tourists secured in the destination that, when multiplied by 52 weeks that a year has we realize the real potential of this industry.

“Like any other good business, there are opportunist people who do it the wrong way and some developers come, cheat on people and leave, leaving behind a negative perception about the industry.”

“Thanks to globalization and to the diverse communication platforms, the way we market our products has change dramatically. Before we depended on finding customers in the streets and now we can say that around 25% of the sales are made through our own hotels and online sales. Here is where we are focusing our investment to commercialize the products that we have.”

An industry in constant growth and transformation

“In the timeshare industry a career can be made because it’s a formal profession and there are many prove of it: We have engineers, undergraduates and many other professions that, because of the low demand of their areas of knowledge, have found long term opportunities. A formal industry requires that the society acknowledge it as one, not as cannibals or to be demonized for someone's fault. It’s true that there are problems, but we aren’t just spectators, we are taking actions.”

“Banderas Bay is an important destination because timeshare is a platform made by many capable people that has been in the industry for 12, 15 or more years. I signed many people just after they graduated from school and now they are doing great.”
