Over 100 travel agents and/or meeting planners received first-hand updates on the Riviera Nayarit during the destination’s Second Promotional Tour to CDMX (Mexico City), an effort to reactivate sales for the upcoming winter season.

The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB), led by Managing Director Marc Murphy, held three events from November 10-12 directed towards three distinct markets or segments.

Each one of these activities entailed a lunch-workshop where the hoteliers (according to the segment’s focus) updated the attendees regarding the latest sales strategies, as well as the prevention measures in place in the hotels, which closely follow the protocols established by the Federal Health Administration.

The activities were held as follows:

+ Tuesday, November 10: 40 luxury travel agents
+ Wednesday, November 11: 40 leisure travel agents
+ Thursday, November 12: 40 meeting planners

The Riviera Nayarit is all about luxury

Each event began with a workshop that included the participation of the following hotels: Paradise Village, Occidental Nuevo Vallarta, Hard Rock Vallarta, Grand Velas, Marival Resorts, Hoteles Riu, Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta, Hoteles Decameron, W Punta de Mita, Palladium Vallarta, The St. Regis Punta Mita, Palmasola, Iberostar Playa Mita, Conrad Punta de Mita, and Maraica San Pancho.

Of note is the fact the events directed towards the luxury market were attended by the top agencies in this segment, among them Virtuoso agencies such as Viajes Excelsior, Felgueres, BCD Travel, Nuba México (Lozano Travel), Creative Travel, Jaunt Travel, Enzo Travel, Elvetia Travel Group, Vintermex, and other businesses such as Mundo Mex and the VIP sales department for the El Corte Inglés agency.

They spotlighted the presence of the recently inaugurated One & Only Mandarina, which is enjoying high demand with some of these agencies thanks to their premium level clientele, as are the areas including Nuevo Vallarta, Costa Banderas, and Punta Mita.

Regarding the MICE segment, the teams met with representatives from top companies focused on the groups and meetings market including BTC Américas, Helms Briscoe, Mundomex, BCD Travel, and Sie Convenciones, among others.

This workshop format was very well received by the attendees, as they were able to meet with the hotel executives face-to-face and receive personalized information.

Safety and air connectivity

The CVB meanwhile, gave a presentation highlighting the pandemic hygiene protocols in place in the hotels, as well as the current state of the Riviera Nayarit on the national map with the recent change in the epidemiological traffic signal from orange to yellow. This was very welcome news to the travel agents, as a safe destination is a big travel incentive for their clients.

Of note is the fact that Mexico City and its surroundings make up more than 33% of the country’s population, and it’s an excellent market for any beach destination. The Riviera Nayarit is no exception, which is why it’s taking full advantage of this excellent business opportunity, especially now that vacationers who would normally travel out of the country are not doing so because of the pandemic restrictions. In addition, air connectivity has also been re-established with daily flights from Aeroméxico, Aeromar, Volaris, and Viva Aerobús.

Remember, the Riviera Nayarit is a safe destination, and all hotels, restaurants, and tourist establishments are following all the health protocols established by the Federal Government’s Ministry of Health. The hotels are only operating at 30% occupancy and access to the beaches is limited. Be a responsible tourist: wear your mask and keep your distance.

We’re ready!

The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) work together to promote the region with the support of the Government of the State of Nayarit through its Tourism Promotion Trust (Fiprotur).
