A new report by the online travel agency, Expedia, places Mexico’s Pacific Treasure among the top five destinations that domestic travelers want to visit before the end of the year.

According to a report by Expedia, the Riviera Nayarit is on the list of Mexican domestic travelers’ “dream destinations” for 2021.

The travel company highlighted five destinations at the top of Mexican travelers’ list of places to go before the year is over. Nuevo Vallarta—the Gateway to the Riviera Nayarit—came in at number three.

“This is the perfect destination for lovers of Pacific beaches. You’ll be able to relax here far from the tourist hordes,” writes the article published on Expedia.mx.

A recent study by Expedia Group called “What Travelers Want 2021,” which analyzes traveler preferences and year-on-year changes, reinforced these findings. The study involved 16,000 travelers in eight markets, including Mexico.

Travel is recovering

The study compiles the type of destinations travelers want to visit and how to regain their confidence. It also mentions the services that are currently most important. Results show that 45% of travelers plan to enjoy their vacations in a beach destination in the next 18 months; however, they will choose to travel to a place close to home that they can reach by car.

Expedia Group highlighted that the travel demand continues to recover. The company estimates that there will be a significant flow of travelers for the next summer season, who nonetheless will prefer new experiences and prioritize factors that were not previously taken into account during their stays.

In that sense, the Riviera Nayarit’s tourism offer aligns with what the post-Covid tourist is looking for. The destination is high on the Safety Perception Index and has uncrowded areas and hotels that have implemented the most advanced international sanitary protocols.

“We see positive indicators for the upcoming summer season and we’re anticipating a season that could reach up to 60 percent of the activity we had in previous seasons,” said Marc Murphy, managing director of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The Riviera Nayarit is a safe destination. Our hotels, restaurants, and tourist establishments follow all the health protocols established by the Federal Government’s Ministry of Health and operate at the allowed capacities. Access to the beaches is limited. Be a responsible tourist: wear your mask and keep your distance.
