The Riviera Nayarit Visitors and Convention Bureau (OVC) enjoyed outstanding participation at the most important event for convention and meetings tourism in Latin America.
The Riviera Nayarit is going all out in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) segment, commonly known as the Meetings Tourism Industry, with outstanding participation in the IBTM Americas 2021. The event took place on August 18 and 19 at the Citibanamex Center in Mexico City.
IBTM Americas is a global exhibition that convenes leaders specialized in the organization of conferences, conventions, corporate events, and incentive travel, as well as specialized suppliers from all over the Americas.
This year, friends, partners, and colleagues were able to greet each other again as the event was back in person after the Covid-19 pandemic canceled the 2020 edition. Biosecurity measures were stringent for the more than 450 tourism professionals who attended the event.
The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) presented its niche tourism offer to meeting planners and wedding planners during 26 business meetings. And although several of them were not familiar with the destination, after the presentation, they were delighted with its natural attractions, the wide range of hotels and premium level tourist services, its broad spectrum of activities, its accessibility both by air and land. Above all, they were impressed that it is one of Mexico’s best-positioned beach tourist destinations, both nationally and internationally.
It is worth mentioning that the attendees unanimously focused on the reactivation of business since the MICE segment was one of the hardest impacted by the adverse effects of the pandemic because of border closures, the drop in flights, and cancellations of large-scale events.
In addition to the business sessions, prestigious national and international speakers offered talks and presentations on various topics related to the current situation in the field of conferences and conventions and the Romance product.
Despite the travel restrictions imposed by the pandemic, many participants arrived from overseas, mostly from countries in the Americas such as Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, the United States, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, and Peru. However, there were some participants from Europe.
There were exhibitors from several Mexican states, including Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Mexico State, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Puebla, San Luis Potosí, Tabasco, Yucatán, and Zacatecas.
The participation in the event of hotel chains with properties in Riviera Nayarit such as AM Resorts, Hard Rock, Hilton, Iberostar, Grupo Diestra, Hoteles Riu, and Marriott International is also worth mentioning.
Of the more than 19,000 hotel rooms located along the Riviera Nayarit’s 307 kilometers of beachfront, 50% qualify as “exclusive” or “luxury.” In addition, the resorts offer more than 17,000 m² of state-of-the-art convention facilities with versatile configurations and breakout rooms.
The Riviera Nayarit is a safe destination.
