Puerto Vallarta which is considered one of the most important tourist destinations due to its exceptional natural beauty, has been chosen as the official venue for one of the most symbolic international sporting events, the UTMB World Series, which will bring together the best of the races of trail running from October 28 to 30.
Puerto Vallarta Mexico by UTMB will take place in this world-renowned tourist destination, where runners from all over the world will be able to participate to add the necessary "Running Stones" and thus access the UTMB Mont-Blanc draw from 2023, now known as UTMB World Series Finals, which takes place in France, Italy and Switzerland.
The arrival of this event is very important for Puerto Vallarta since it is the first time in history that a city in Mexico is part of such an iconic meeting for the international community of ultramarathon runners.
Puerto Vallarta will be the only venue in Latin America and, together with the United States (the Western States 100- Mile Endurance Run), will have the only official events of the UTMB World Series so far announced in North America.
A large portion of the distance covers the Sierra Madre Occidental, a sacred place for the Wixárika worldview from which the inspiration for the design and name of each of the routes is born: Wixárika (100 miles) means a person with a deep heart, Hikuri (100 km) or peyote is considered a teacher, they call him "the wise" and Nakawé (55 km), "mother water".
