On August 29, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico began construction of a new terminal airport at the Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport. It will be the first terminal zero-emissions airport in Latin America and will use state-of-the-art technology to reduce electrical consumption. The airport can currently handle five million passengers a year, and the addition of this second terminal will increase passenger capacity by about 50 percent. The project is expected to be operational in seven years and requires two stages of work, the first of which will be completed in 2024.
