Vallarta among the top 5 cities receiving international cruises

During the first four months of the year, Puerto Vallarta is ranked as one of the top five ports receiving international cruise ships in Mexico.

According to information released by the federal Ministry of Tourism, INEGI (National Institute of Statistics and Geography), and the Ministry of the Navy, during this period, a total of 3,885,000 cruise passengers arrived at various ports in the country, marking a 2.2% increase compared to the same period last year. Additionally, 1,200 cruise ships docked in Mexico.

The arrival of these cruise ship passengers generated a revenue of 325.8 million dollars, which is 6.2% higher compared to the first four months of 2023. The average spending per tourist was 83.9 dollars, surpassing by 3.9 percentage points the 80.7 dollars reported in the same period of 2023.

The ports that received the highest number of cruise ship passengers in Mexico from January to April this year were Cozumel and Mahahual in Quintana Roo, Ensenada in Baja California, Cabo San Lucas in Baja California Sur, and Puerto Vallarta in Jalisco, which together accounted for 90% of the total passengers.

In the first four months of the year, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, received 78 cruise ships and 238,471 passengers.
